Carousel Adult Day Care is founded and led by Dr. Karen Allen, a licensed professional counselor with over 24 years of experience in community-based care, behavioral health, and program leadership.

Dr. Allen brings a practitioner’s expertise to adult day services, with a professional background that includes behavioral health, trauma-informed care, applied behavior analysis, and work across regulated care environments. Her leadership reflects a deep understanding of the clinical, operational, and regulatory responsibilities involved in serving vulnerable adult populations.

Under her direction, Carousel Adult Day Care has operated continuously for more than two decades as a state-approved program, maintaining consistent leadership, disciplined stewardship, and adherence to regulatory standards. The organization has remained intentionally stable—prioritizing safety, continuity of care, and staffing consistency over rapid growth or visibility.

Dr. Allen’s leadership philosophy centers on accountability, dignity, and long-term sustainability. Her approach emphasizes systems that work in real communities, for real families, over time. This commitment has allowed Carousel to provide dependable care for elderly adults, veterans, and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities while supporting family caregivers who rely on reliable daytime services.
